Conscious victim:

A conscious victim is able to answer questions asked. She doesn’t tend to doze off and can follow your gaze. She is lucid and she can dialogue.

Semi-conscious victim:

A semi-conscious victim is not able to answer clearly or correctly the questions asked. She doesn’t seem fully awake and lucid. She gives the impression that she may pass out at any moment and she may also appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Unconscious victim:

An unconscious victim does not respond and does not react to words or pain.

Here are some examples of questions to ask a victim to assess their level of consciousness:

Fainting

The cause of fainting is a sudden decrease in blood flow to the brain which leads to loss of consciousness. It can be related to strenuous exercise, sweltering heat, medical problem, etc. It is characterized by loss of consciousness lasting less than one minute.
