Protein Diet May Harm Health

The main foods in the protein diet are meat and fish. The breakfast in this diet is always the same. After waking up, 10-15 minutes before a meal, you need to drink a glass of water at room temperature (a very good start. Many nutritionists believe that water helps to wake up the body). Then Robert Atkins recommends drinking coffee with milk (0,5% fat) or tea, eating curd (0%) or yogurt of the same calorie content. But in no case should you use sugar! The doctor recommends replacing it with fructose (but many doctors disagree with this. The fact is that sugar substitutes can lead to carbohydrate malfunction). If you feel hungry, Atkins advises drinking a glass or two of green tea with mint, three hours after breakfast is allowed to eat an apple, pear, orange or five plums.

Two hours later, we move on to the long-awaited lunch. Here, the doctor has compiled as many as three options for meals to choose from. First: ear with two thin slices of black or coarsely ground bread, salad of 2 tomatoes, tea with 3 dried fruits, tangerine. Second: 100 g of veal, grilled or oven-baked without oil, boiled wild rice (two handfuls with top), salad of green lettuce leaves and cucumbers. An important point: there should be no salt in any dish. And the third: 150 g of fish, steamed or grilled without oil, any side dish from the previous options. After two hours, you can eat an apple.

For dinner, Robert Atkins offers four options for dishes, at your discretion: squid salad; chicken and grapefruit; veal with garlic; fish garnished with vegetables and nuts. You can find cooking methods for these dishes on the internet.

As a result, if you follow this diet, you can lose from three kilograms in two weeks! Do you know why? “The essence of this diet is to minimize the amount of carbohydrates in the body,” says nutritionist Lidiya Ionova. – And 1 g of carbohydrates retains approximately 4 g of water. You lose weight because you lose a lot of water, but not fat! ” However, the ineffectiveness of the diet does not end there. It can also lead to serious health problems. “This diet is limited to the amount of vegetables and fruits, which leads to a sharp decrease in the level of fiber in the body,” continues Lydia. – As a result, the risk of not just colitis increases, but bowel cancer and breast and ovarian cancer in women! At the same time, it is very difficult to trace the deterioration of the state of health, as it proceeds very slowly ”. And finally: a protein diet doubles the level of cholesterol in the body, and is also categorically contraindicated for people with metabolic syndrome.

A rice diet will disrupt the digestive tract

Rice is believed to be very beneficial for health: it removes harmful substances such as salts and toxins from the body. But how beneficial is the rice diet? There are three types of it: three-day (for a whole day you can eat only one glass of brown rice, cooked without salt and spices, which must be divided into small portions and washed down with apple or orange juice); seven-day (500 g of rice should be combined with steamed fish, boiled meat, fresh vegetables or fruits, but the total amount of “additives” per day should not exceed 200 g, you can drink unsweetened natural juices, tea without sugar, water); a two-week or “diet – five volumes” (it consists of the following: you need to pour 2 tablespoons of rice into five small glasses and pour them with a glass of water, then change the water for four days, and on the fifth, drain the water from the first glass and eat rice without boiling, then pour the rice back into the jar and add water. This should be repeated for two weeks, eating a portion of rice soaked for four days every day).

Lydia Ionova believes that this diet is no less dangerous than the previous one – protein. “Even the first versions of the rice diet, in which it is recommended to eat fish, fresh vegetables and fruits, cannot be called healthy and effective,” says Lydia. “Any healthy diet, and even more so diet aimed at weight loss, requires at least 500 g (not 200!) Of vegetables and fruits daily.” The results of such nutrition, according to Lydia Ionova, will not be very impressive: “The first thing that will happen on such a diet is constipation. And if you practice this diet regularly, you may be at risk of developing intestinal diverticulosis, and then cancer. “

Kefir diet is good only for a fasting day

It would seem that what could be more useful than a kefir fasting day? Of course, if we are talking about one day. And if we talk about kefir diet, which is designed for several days and promises to lose 8 kilograms per week? “There are a huge number of options for the kefir diet,” explains Lydia Ionova. – The first option: kefir is the only food and drink during the day, other products are excluded. There is another: kefir is one of the components in the diet, but at the same time there are other products in the diet – vegetables, fruits, proteins. ” Of course, those who dream of losing extra pounds as soon as possible count on the first option. But is it as effective as it seems? Of course, in a couple of days, eating only kefir, you can lose weight. True, there is one “but”: as soon as you return to your normal diet, the kilograms will return to you again, and twice! So, you sit down on one kefir again and find yourself in a vicious circle. “With severe restrictions on food, you will feel very bad, on the third day you may develop the so-called“ dietary depression ”, and in fact it is the most common depression with low hormone levels,” warns Lydia Ionova. “The fact is that a lack of food leads to a depressed mood, and a depressed mood, as a rule, is seized, and any seizing causes a feeling of guilt, and a feeling of guilt causes the following …” Only two ways will help to get out of this state: another way to lose weight without harm to health, the second – you will earn foodborne diseases (for example, bulimia or anorexia), which will be very difficult to cope with without the help of specialists.

Vegetable diets are likely to be ineffective

Another fairly common diet is vegetable. It is designed for a week and is a whole food system, observing which you can lose 5 kilograms. The diet is based on daily cabbage soup and a varied daily menu of vegetables, fruits and dairy products, which can seem to be completely harmless. But Lydia Ionova does not think so: “This diet is very low in calories and dangerous, so dietary depression will be very severe (as in the rice diet).” Lydia also warns that in order to effectively lose weight, that is, after leaving the diet, kilograms did not return to you doubly, you need a sufficient amount of time. “You need to change your diet very gradually. It takes two months to lose 3 to 5 kilograms, ”says the nutritionist. Therefore, following such a diet is a big mistake. Not receiving calories, the body will accumulate fats, so there can be no talk of any weight loss!

The Chinese diet is more like Chinese torture

The Chinese diet is called one of the toughest, you need to adhere to it for one week. The maximum number of kilograms with which you can say goodbye, observing all the rules, is seven. On the Internet, you can find the menu for this diet. Admittedly, it is rather scarce. For example, the first day of the diet: breakfast – coffee or green tea (without sugar, of course!); lunch – two hard-boiled eggs and a salad of vegetable cabbage and a tomato. You can drink this pleasure with green tea or, removing tomatoes from the salad, tomato juice; dinner – salad (the same as for lunch) and 150 g of boiled fish. The next day, one crouton, a glass of kefir and instead of fish – as much as 200 g of beef are allowed! The following days are also not encouraging …

Nutritionist Lydia Ionova believes that such a diet can only be recommended to enemies. “This diet can do tremendous harm to your body,” says Lydia. – It is absolutely unbalanced neither in proteins, nor in fats, nor in carbohydrates. Eggs cause particular concern on the menu: on the first day you need to eat two hard-boiled ones, and the next day – raw with beef … Firstly, a raw egg is poorly absorbed in the body, and secondly, it leads to an increase in cholesterol levels. “

The Japanese diet is built on dehydration

According to the Japanese experts who developed this diet, the result of losing weight after it will last a very long time – two or three years. However, this can happen under one condition – the clear execution of all items in the menu. The method of losing weight according to the Japanese diet is calculated (by the way, it has nothing to do with the Japanese traditional diet) for 13 days. The menu, as in the Chinese diet, is very meager: breakfast consists of coffee or green tea without sugar, only occasionally it is allowed to eat a crouton; for lunch – salad, fish, fried or boiled to choose from, beef or eggs; a typical dinner consists of fruits or vegetables.

“Black coffee, raw or hard-boiled eggs … The Japanese diet is very similar to the Chinese one,” says Lydia Ionova. “It is very strange that it is allowed to eat fish, either boiled or fried, that is, experts do not see any difference … But the number of calories between them is colossal.” Lydia also considers this eating option to be harmful and ineffective. And the statements that after leaving this diet, the kilograms will not return to you for three years, are simply ridiculous. “Firstly, your weight will become less as a result of dehydration (so there is no doubt that the kilograms will return!), And secondly, as in all mono-diets, dietary depression will come to you on the third day, and thirdly, health problems, the same as in a protein diet, are also guaranteed, ”says Lidia Ionova.

The English diet is too long

The English diet can be classified as low in calories. It is designed for three weeks, during which you will need to alternate protein and vegetable days. After observing the English rules, get ready to change your wardrobe: its developers promise that you will lose 7 kilograms! So, let’s start the diet with a two-day fast. You can’t eat anything! But you can drink: water and green tea in unlimited quantities, milk or kefir – no more than 2 liters per day, you can still afford a glass of tomato juice. The next days are not so tough. You can eat toast, butter, milk, coffee (the diet menu can be found on the Internet). An important point: it is recommended to use multivitamins in her diet. “Following the English diet, your weight will really decrease, only one half of the lost kilograms is water, and the other half is muscle mass,” says Lydia Ionova. The nutritionist also warns: “Any mono-diet should not be adhered to for more than one week. And this one is designed for as many as three! And here the assumption that proteins help build muscle mass does not stand up to criticism. They do this only in the case of regular physical activity, and in addition to proteins, there is also an obligatory amount of carbohydrates that must be eaten daily. And with such an alternation, the growth of muscle mass is out of the question: amino acids will perform an energy function, replacing carbohydrates in the construction of new cells. “

The French diet is geared towards meat eaters

The French diet was created for those who cannot imagine their life without meat. The 14-day diet focuses on protein foods. As a result, the body burns its own fat stores, and you lose up to 8 kilograms. The diet menu is very low in calories. Allowed products: meat products, lean fish, eggs, fruits, vegetables and herbs, kefir, tea and coffee, rusks. Salt, sugar, confectionery and flour products, bread and alcohol are prohibited. However, all foods are consumed in very small portions. For example, here is the fifth day of the menu of this diet: breakfast – grated carrots with lemon juice, lunch – boiled fish with tomato, dinner – a piece of boiled meat. A breakfast consisting only of black coffee is a mockery of the body. ” In addition, it is amazing that there are no snacks in between meals. That is, for a long time you will simply have to starve. The result is the accumulation of fat by the body. “Two meals a day is a risk of gallstones,” warns Lydia. – And overweight people often have either cholecystitis or cholelithiasis. As a result, such a diet can simply lead to complications that end on the surgical table. “

A soup diet will weaken the immune system

At the heart of this diet is the use of lean vegetable soup in unlimited quantities. This will help you quickly lose weight: from 5 to 8 kilograms per week! The thing is that the soup is low in calories, but at the same time it is very filling – due to water and a large amount of vegetable fiber. As a result, you forget about the feeling of hunger for a long time, and when it comes again, you always have another bowl of soup on hand. Cabbage, celery and onion soups have the best dietary properties. In addition to the main course, fruits, vegetables, tea and juices are allowed during the soup diet. Bread, sugar, alcohol, soda, sweets and pastries are excluded from the diet.

But Lydia Ionova believes that this diet is no different from the same Chinese diet. Moreover, in her opinion, the fact that the soup is nourishing is an absolute lie. “The soup is quickly absorbed in the body and gives a tremendous feeling of hunger in an hour,” explains Lydia. “In addition, the same type of food will not only get bored on the second day, but also lead to dietary depression.” Also, a nutritionist is sure that such a daily diet is a huge harm for the body. “This diet does not include protein, which in turn can weaken the immune system,” says Ionova.

The author of the buckwheat diet is Dr. Laskin. Its essence lies in separate nutrition, and, according to the doctor, the diet contributes not only to weight loss, but also to the prevention of cancer, since buckwheat is rich in quercetin, a substance that actively resists mutations in cells. This diet allows you to eat fruits, vegetables, rose hips and nuts. This power supply system consists of two stages. The first was named “strict”, its menu is very monotonous – buckwheat porridge with the addition of rose hips for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This regime lasts for 47 days! Then other foods are added to the diet.

“The diet is similar to rice, but still a little healthier due to the fact that the nutritional value of buckwheat is higher than that of rice,” says nutritionist Lidia Ionova. – Fasting days with buckwheat porridge for two or three days are quite acceptable, but in no case for 47 days. As a result of amino acid deficiencies, your immune system will suffer. ”

A banana diet will lead to a protein deficiency

The banana diet is designed for 3-7 days, during which you can eat bananas in any amount, but nothing else. It is allowed to drink water or green tea without sugar. Such a diet will allow you to lose up to a kilogram per day.

“Despite the fact that bananas are more nutritious and nourishing than other fruits, it is still not recommended to use them as a mono-diet,” says Lydia Ionova. “Of course, you will lose weight, but, as is the case with other diets, the result will not last long.” Also, according to the nutritionist, if this diet is observed, a protein deficiency in the body may occur, since bananas contain more soluble fiber.

Diet Protasov will only help you gain weight

The recipe for the popular “shuffle” diet first appeared in the “Russian Israeli” newspaper a couple of decades ago. Its author is an Israeli nutritionist Kim Protasov. His nutrition system is designed for five weeks, during which, in his opinion, the body is cleansed of toxins and receives a maximum of useful substances, and due to this, excess weight (up to 15 kilograms!) But for some reason, fried meat was added, which is harmful to the body. “

Lydia Ionova believes that compared to many other popular express diets, this one is more or less harmless. “Such a diet can be called balanced,” says Lydia. – The diet contains foods that are low in cholesterol and fat, and has a sufficient amount of fruit. The only drawback: it does not provide the proper amount of water, this increases the risk of gallstones and constipation. Also, pregnant and lactating women, as well as people with diabetes should be very careful with her.
