Lily in the skin of African American icons

Lily went to meet several African-Americans who made the history of her country. How? ‘Or’ What ? Her mom Janine dressed her up, then her daddy Marc photographed her. Lily’s photos were finally juxtaposed with those of well-known pioneers such as singer Nina Simone or activist Josephine Baker, but also with somewhat less famous but equally incredible women such as Mae Jamison, the first African-American to go into space or Bessie Coleman, the first black female airplane pilot. The Bushelles also wanted to pay tribute to contemporary celebrities such as the ballet dancer Misty Copeland and the artist Queen Latifah. The couple then wanted to expand the series of photos to women from all ethnicities. For example, we see Lily in Malala, the youngest Nobel Laureate since Mother Teresa.

The “Black Heroines Project”, which started out as a simple initiation into African-American history, was quickly overtaken by its success. “It was only within the family framework. We never imagined that we would share this with the whole planet ”, revealed in his“ Flickr moment ”. Lily really enjoyed participating in this incredible project. “She loves to dress up. It’s hard to make him give up his disguise after the photoshoot, ”revealed his dad. The little girl did not just pose but also brought her little touch to certain decorations. Marc Bushelle decided to extend the exercise after receiving the support of Internet users. Each week, this devoted dad publishes pictures on, bringing some elements of biography on the heroines featured in his photos.
