• promising places are chosen in advance, but they are not limited to fishing;
• from ice, round-bottomed vents are used, which completely close the hole, this will allow the base not to freeze during the night frost;
• it is recommended to use ice-baths for night fishing;
• tackle used at night must be sprinkled with snow;
• in sunny weather, it is better to place the girders in the shade under the trees.

Pike fishing in March on the vents usually takes place from the ice, while it costs more to set up tackle in the shallows. It is there that small fish already go out to warm themselves, and a predator follows it.

In April, fishing on vents is prohibited in reservoirs, with the exception of paid ponds, there are basically no spawning bans there. Both winter and summer gear options are used. Fishing for pike on zherlitsy in April is not as successful as in March, but it is possible.

In May, pike are caught with spinning gear, while baits are used mainly at night. It is possible to catch large individuals, but most often come across medium-sized pike.
